We’ve been waiting for the Meizu MX5 Pro as a follow-up to the MX4 Pro released last year. Earlier this month, it was sighted on TENAA, giving us an idea that it might have a 6-inch 2K display screen. We’ve heard a lot of rumors already including the phone impressing us with a 4000mAh battery, a 20 megapixel Sony sensor, and 4GB RAM.
We’re expecting a July launch (or maybe even earlier) and looks like it’s happening very soon because the phone has been spotted on GFXBench already, listed with some details. Obviously, the smartphone is currently being tested.
We finally learned the handset features a 5.5-inch Full-HD display (not 6-inch), 8-core MediaTek MT6795T processor, 3GB RAM (not 4GB), 16GB built-in storage, and a microSD card slot for expansion. No mention on the display resolution but we can say the phone really has a 20MP main camera and a 5MP front-facing camera.
There’s another rumor that Meizu will be unveiling the new Android device this coming June 30. Teasers have been released previously showing us something with a “Full Metal Jacket” so we’re guessing the phone will be full metal, meaning all durable and very solid. The metal build is also expected to give that premium design and feel, ready to rival the other premium phones from other brands.
Another set of images leaked earlier this week shows us the shell of the purported Meizu MX5 actually has an oval cutout on the home button location. This could mean the phone might have a fingerprint scanner. As for pricing, rumor has it that starting price will be $290 (1799 Yuan in China). That puts it on the mid-range category.
Let’s wait and see for Meizu to officially reveal this Android smartphone.
