There had been some early talk of LG hoping to reach 10 million in sales for the G2 smartphone, however it wasn’t until today that the goal was officially confirmed from someone within the company. LG had a launch event for the G2 earlier today in Taiwan and discussed the global sales goal as well as what they are hoping to see in terms of sales within Taiwan.

Up first, the global sales number and as the earlier chatter had suggested — LG is indeed hoping to see 10 million in unit sales from the G2. As for Taiwan, they have set the sales goal within the country at 20,000 units per month with a further goal of seeing a 5 percent market share for smartphones and a 10 percent market share amongst the high-end devices.

The LG G2 has been getting solid reviews thus far and with the widespread availability around the world, it seems like that 10 million number may be more a matter of when as opposed to if. Of course, time will tell how accurate these goals are. In the meantime, we look towards the handset itself which has a solid set of specs along with a unique placement in terms of the buttons.

As we shown in our earlier review and hands-on posts with the G2, those buttons are located on the back of the handset, just below the camera lens. Otherwise, the LG G2 sports a 5.2-inch 1080p HD display along with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 3000 mAh battery and 13 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization. The handset is also running Android 4.2.2 with more than a handful of LG specific features and customizations.

  1. I bought the G2, and it’s an awesome phone. But here in the US, there are few sales on PayPal, Craigslist, and Swappa, and what IS there is going for cheap. In other words, interest seems very low. Again, I think the phone is awsome though.

  2. I bought one and so far i love it thanks to verizon the buttons are a little small but its a super fast phone with a great screen.
