The LG G Pad 8.3 became the first tablet in the Google Play edition device lineup last week and it looks like this device is living up to the GPe name. By that, we mean updates that tend to arrive much quicker as compared to a regular carrier or manufacturer branded device. The tablet arrived last week with Android 4.4 and we are already seeing the over-the-air arrival of Android 4.4.2.
The update, in terms of the file size is on the smaller side. This one measures in at just a little more than 50MB in size. And similar to the size of the update in terms of MB, the changelog is also on the smaller side. Those updating will get the standard line about how this update is improving performance and stability and also taking care of some bugs.
A little further digging mentioned how the update has several software fixes and also some security enhancements. Otherwise, aside from bumping the tablet from 4.4 to 4.4.2, this update will also leave the user seeing a build number of KOT49H. As we often see, this update is rolling out in stages, which means it may, or may not be available for your particular device just yet.
With that in mind, those carrying a GPe LG G Pad 8.3 can either check manually or sit back and wait for the update notification to arrive. Given this is a smaller update, we suggest taking the latter approach and simply waiting. Alternatively, those feeling like they absolutely cannot wait can download the file (link sitting below) and manually flash it. But again, we suggest waiting for the notification to arrive.
Manual download: Android 4.4.2 for the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition tablet.
Otherwise, those looking for more coverage on the tablet should dive in the Story Timeline sitting below.
My LG Gpad GPE arrived yesterday, but I will wait for the update as my wife is wrapping mine for Christmas.
