Any FCC sighting of a device means it’s coming very soon. The Lenovo SmartBand visiting the commission gave us an idea about this OS-friendly fitness tracker. Lenovo is set to release the new the Smartband SW-B100 before the year ends before no dates have been announced yet.
The new wearable device was recently listed on Lenovo’s company website and looks like it won’t run Android Wear. Instead, it will have its unknown user interface that focuses on the health stuff ideal the young and the active market. These are people who are into tracking their personal health progress, and who need custom notifications, as well as, automatic logging of data on their computers.
The Lenovo SmartBand SW-B100 can track the wearer’s distance/number of steps, heart rate, and calories burned. A special app will graph gathered data over daily, weekly, or monthly periods depending on what the user wants to see. It can also track the sleeping patterns of the wearer.
This wearable device is more of a health and fitness tracker but it can also be worn as a nice timepiece, not like the Xiaomi Mi Band and FitBit. It won’t run Android Wear as the default platform but it works well with an Android device to show SMS and call notifications. Social network sharing is also possible with the Lenovo SmartBand so you can show off stats with your friends.
Another thing that the Lenovo SmartBand can do is to unlock and auto-lock a personal computer. No need to enter a password by typing on the keyboard. Simply tap on the screen and the computer will be locked or unlocked. No details on pricing and availability but the wearable will be available in dark gray with orange or blue trim.
