Before Samsung starts teasing us with the Gear S3, the company is releasing it’s latest software update for the Gear S2. We gave you a glimpse to the new features only last week and quickly soon after a rumor about it was heard. True enough, a third update was released over the weekend for the thousands of Gear S2 smartwatch owners.
Samsung has always been committed to improving its products and services and one way to easily do it is to release software updates. Such are expected and big OEMs like Samsung must really keep up to their promises. The update released last July 15 delivers more speed plus efficiency to the Gear S2.
As we mentioned already, watchfaces and apps can now be downloaded directly from the wearable. No need to access a compatible smartphone because you can do some customizations straight from the smartwatch. The idea of direct downloads was something expected because a smartwatch can be more powerful if it’s able to do more things on its own. This makes user experience easier and faster than ever because as soon as you find a new content, you can download it immediately.
If you’re bored with the watchface of your Gear S2, feel free to personalize your device by choosing a photo that you like using the My Photo app. If you’re watchful of your health, you may find the updated S Health more helpful as it can now track your sleep data. Of course, you need to wear the Gear S2 to sleep. If you want to let the world know that you’re working out and are trying to be healthy, go on and share your workout results straight to Facebook.
Other important changes include a timer for the S Voice (voice recognition software). This means you can start/pause/resume/stop the timer with your voice. This particular feature has improved recognition to ensure you are always up-to-date.
Right on your Gear S2, you can also now access your Contacts to send a message or make a quick call. The World Clock now shows sunrise and sunset information, as well as, the time difference between locations. Meanwhile, the Weather app shows the UV Index information.
If you need support for your Gear S2, you can reach Samsung’s customer service center by accessing directly the ‘Contact Us’ feature. Download the software update through the Samsung Gear app. Make sure the smartphone and Gear S2 are synced before you see the update.
