Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast was launched yesterday to the Android world via the Google Play Store, a free-to-play RPG that actually exceeds any expectations a mobile RPG fan or an Iron Maiden fan might have for it. Certainly, the game is much more fun than it has any right to be, and it raises the bar for any band-related RPG that might arise soon after this.

Granted, an RPG connected to a heavy metal band of the 80’s is not a very traditional way to make an app, but Roadhouse Games actually hits this one out of the ballpark. Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast is actually a turn-based RPG whose elements are inspired by the lyrics and album art of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden. Players can build a team by collecting various creatures and versions of Iron Maiden’s immortal mascot Eddie. This team can be used to do battle with various beasts across realms inspired by the band’s music.

The game is great for mobile – battles are short and quick, and the gameplay requires some skill in precise timing to inflict maximum damage on opponents. It’s really not that different from other turn-based games, but the style, art, and music makes this a fun RPG, but even more for Iron Maiden fans.

The game is free to download, with IAPs, of course. But you really don’t need to spend real money to enjoy this game. Check it out and tell us about it.
