Back during CES in January, we got eyes on the new iRig 2 at the show. This is the updated version of the original iRig, which is a mobile guitar interface that allows you use your Android smartphone or tablet as an amplifier for playing on the go. One thing we didn’t know about the iRig 2 during CES is exactly when it would ship.
That day has come and the iRig 2 is now shipping. The device will work with electric guitars or bass and lets musicians send signals from the instruments to apps like AmpliTube and others. It connects to the Android device or iPhone via the normal headphone input.
Another change to the iRig 2 compared to the original is the ability to adjust the input gain of the instrument to match the mobile device. The adjustable gain control allows the input to be customized to work ideally with any line input instrument.
It has a 1/4″ input and output along with a 1/8-inch TRSS output for mobile devices and a 1/8-inch headphone output. iRig 2 is compatible with popular Android devices like the Note 3, Note 4, Galaxy Edge, Galaxy S5, and others. iRig 2 is available online now for $39.99.
