For those who are avid golfers or even just occasional ones, you’re probably always on the lookout for things that can help you improve your game or make you a better golfer than your boss. If you cannot afford to have an actual coach or your golfing buddies aren’t that generous enough to give you tips or something, then you would want to check out IOFIT, which says it is the first smart golf shoes. You can pre-order them now through their Kickstarter campaign.

IOFIT is actually a spin-off company from Samsung and basically, the shoes contain a technology that can analyze your balance and so it can also give you feedback on how you can improve your swing and consequently, your game. It claims it is pretty lightweight, having outsole traction and breathable textile lining in order to give you that balance between functional and comfortable. It has a 5 day battery life with an average of 2 hours a day, which should be enough to cover your game.

The data it collects while you’re playing is then synced through Bluetooth onto your connected Android device. You have the option of taking a video and syncing it, then comparing it with those from the professional swing library in the app and seeing which one you want to imitate. You can also compare your stats with golfing pros and get feedback on what you need to fix.

You can get your IOFIT smart golf shoes for $189 if you support its Kickstarter campaign. They have already reached their funding goal of $30,000 but the retail price when it goes to the market is $399, so you actually get more than 50% off if you pre-order it. Shipping is expected by February 2017.

This is a crowdfunded project, and as such may not deliver what its creators initially promise. Most crowdfunding sites, like Kickstarter and Indiegogo, have policies about what happens to your money if the project fails to deliver on its goals, but choosing to back a project is inevitably a risk. Android Community’s reporting on crowdfunded projects should in no way be seen as an endorsement, unless specifically stated, and we recommend closely examining the terms and conditions to understand your individual rights as a backer before making a pledge.
