Imgur is usually the app or service that we go to look for funny GIFs or emojis or just to browse for interesting photos that people upload on the network. But now, it seems that they also want to give users the chance to connect with other “Imgurians” as they like to call it. You will now be able to send messages and chat with other users on the network, which is apparently one of the most requested features according to them.

Basically, there are several ways for you to chat with other imgurians. You can directly visit the profile of the person or search for them by username when you start a chat box. You can also publicly chat with them on the comments section if that’s your thing. You can send GIFs, emoticons, pictures, posts, and yes, even plain messages to those you want to chat with. If it’s a stranger, you better start with a cute hello GIF or some food emoticon, just to get things rolling. You can never go wrong with food. Well, almost.

However, this kind of system can also lead to receiving unwanted messages from random people. If you want to ban someone from sending you offensive or just annoying messages, go to the settings (cog icon) in your conversation and choose the “block user” option. You can also manage the users you’ve blocked in the main Chat menu, just in case you change your mind about one of them.

The update also now allows you to follow certain users, if you want to keep updated with their posts if they reach Most Viral. You can also now update your account settings from within the app itself. Previously you can only do so on the desktop or browser version. So update your app now from its Google Play page.
