If you’ve been wondering when Huawei’s new smartwatch, which has been available internationally for some time now, will finally make its way to US shores, wonder no more. Both the Huawei Watch GT Sport and the Huawei Watch GT Classic can now be pre-ordered through Amazon. The release date is indicated as February 19 but you can already purchase it now, just in case they have limited stocks available. The Classic will set you back $229.99 while the Sport variant will cost you $199.99.
The main difference between the two variants is just the design and as their name suggests, the Classic one looks like your more traditional Android smartwatch while the Sport one is a bit more appealing to those who like their wearables more rugged. But while they may look like Wear OS devices, they’re actually not. They’re running on Huawei’s own LiteOS which is a lightweight smartwatch platform.
This means that Huawei can bring down the specs to something more lightweight in order to bring down the price as well. The Huawei Watch has a circular 1.39-inch 454×454 AMOLED display and only has 16MB RAM and 128MB of internal storage. LiteOS has things like custom watch faces, exercising tracking, notifications, etc. It also has the usual GPS, heart rate monitor, altimeter, and 5ATM water-proofing.
What Huawei is highlighting with both watches is that their 420mAh battery can actually last for two weeks if you just use the heart rate monitor and then just 90 minutes of exercise tracking every week. But should you use continuous tracking including GPS and the screen on at all time, it still has an impressive 22 hours on a single charge, given its battery capacity.
They are also pushing the TruSleep 2.0 sleep tracking which was developed by Harvard Medical School’s CDB center. If these specs and features appeal to you, you can pre-order it now on Amazon before it starts shipping on the 19th.
