HTC and Under Armour are still working together to release a product that, hopefully, we’ll see sooner than promised. The pair’s partnership isn’t really news because we knew about it way back in January. We mentioned that the two would be creating fitness-related digital products but sadly, the Grip fitness smartband was delayed once again. That’s already after the earlier postponement.
We’re positive that finally, the collaboration will become a reality as a a special document on Bluetooth Special Interest Group’s site was recently sighted. The page has since been pulled but we learned that the product would be called the “UA Scale”. This scale is meant to be a Bluetooth-enabled scale that can measure weight and body fat.
An HTC-Under Armour is expected to be reliable but we really want to know if the two will be able to deliver it. No word on availability or pricing so as with any other HTC-Under Armour product concept, let’s wait and see.
If you may remember, the HTC Grip is also rumored to be cancelled totally but it was HTC who announced that they simply “decided to launch a fully integrated digital ecosystem of products early next year”. The Bluetooth weighing scale could be part of that ecosystem which is scheduled for an early 2016 release. We’re still crossing our fingers on all developments and launches so until the Taiwanese device manufacturer makes an official announcement, we’re considering this as a rumor for now.
