Changing CEOs is a huge task for a massive company such as HTC. Normally when we see major executive changes, the change comes on a time schedule rather than happening immediately. There are times when companies move faster than that, and that is exactly what smartphone maker HTC has done.

Word has just surfaced that HTC has removed Peter Chou as CEO and has installed Cher Wang. The change in chief executives is effective immediately. Chou certainly didn’t do a terrible job as head of HTC, after all he could be pointed to as one of the people who helped to turn HTC around and make it one of the more successful smartphone makers in the Android realm.

Despite being relatively successful with devices like the HTC One, the flagship devices just didn’t sell as well as devices from the likes of Samsung or LG. Perhaps a new CEO can change the fortunes of the company and increase sales.

Wang has been with HTC for a long time and is in fact one of the founders of the company. She is the Chairman of HTC Corp. Apparently Wang has been running the business part of HTC for the last few years freeing Chou up to focus on product development. Only time will tell if Wang can makes things better for HTC.
