Android 2.2 Froyo is out for the Nexus One, but what about HTC’s range of own-brand smartphones?  We’ve just spoken to the company’s UK team, who have confirmed that HTC engineers are hard at work crafting up a Sense-friendly Froyo ROM.  According to the company, we can start to expect the fruits of those labours from Q3 this year.

“We are working hard with our partners to update the HTC Sense experience on Froyo and distribute it to our customers as fast as possible. We expect to release updates for several of our 2010 models including Desire, Legend and Wildfire beginning in Q3” HTC

Devices in line for an update include the Desire and Legend, together with the newer Wildfire which we reviewed over the weekend.  Froyo brings with it WiFi tethering together with performance increases; however we’ll have to wait and see how HTC’s carrier partners handle the roll-out, since they can often be another point of delay in the process as a whole.

  1. For every Wildfire owner (including myself) out there who no longer knows what to think or believe concerning the Froyo 2.2 update, I have started a poll on my blog with the intention of lobbying HTC to at least be gracious enough to remove their smokescreen and give us all a solid answer. If you would like to support this situation please feel free to vote on my blog: http:
