We’re not sure what HTC is doing but the Taiwanese company just introduced a new variant of the old HTC Desire 626. The large display mid-range phone that launched February last year has got a new version in the form of the HTC Desire 626 Dual SIM. It’s obvious what HTC added here–this one now features Dual SIM support. HTC could have at least changed the number on the name but the company chose to retain 626–placing the model now together with the HTC Desire 626s and the Taiwan-exclusive Desire 626G+ also released last year.

Over the weekend, HTC rolled out the Desire 626 Dual SIM in India. So this is the country-specific variant of a one-year old phone model. It’s definitely an improved version with its Dual SIM capability. Other specs include a 5-inch screen, 720 x 1280 pixel resolution, 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752 chipset, 2GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, microSD card slot, 4G/LTE connectivity, 5MP front-facing camera, 13MP rear camera (with f/2.2 aperture, LED flash, 28mm lens, BSI sensor), and a 2000mAh battery. Phone only runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

The HTC Desire 626 Dual SIM is currently available in India for Rs. 14,990 which is about $220 in the US. Phone will be available in two color options only: White Birch and Blue Lagoon. Expect more major retailers in India to offer the Android phone in the next few days.
