HP announced the Chromebook 11 yesterday. The notebook was touted as being one made “for everyone” and judging by the price point, it seems that may be somewhat of an accurate statement. HP had said the Chromebook 11 would be available with a variety of retailers and it looks like it has arrived in the Play Store. And in addition to the notebook itself, there are also some matching sleeve style cases.
The Play Store listing for the Chromebook 11 shows the expected price point of $279. Otherwise, Google has it available in black as well as white/blue, white/green, white/red and white/yellow. Perhaps more important for some, the expected shipping date is listed as October 11.
Aside from the notebook itself, there is also three sleeve style cases available. These are specific for the Chromebook 11 and in fact, are listed as being “the first sleeve designed by Google specifically for your HP Chromebook 11.” Google has three color options available; black, gray/blue and white/red. Those using the case will be adding an extra 222 grams of weight to the 2.3 pound notebook.
These are priced at $49.99 and still listed as coming soon. There is also a similarity to those recently released cases for the Nexus 7. Google also has these listed as being “for Google, by Google” and with mention of how hard it can be to find a case that works and fits your device well. To that point, these Chromebook 11 sleeves are also sporting the Google flag “as a little salute to perfect fits.”
The Chromebook 11 sports an 11.6-inch display with a 1366 x 768 resolution, is powered by an Exynos 5250 application processor and has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of SSD storage and includes 100GB of Google Drive storage (free for two-years). The notebook also includes a few other freebies as well as dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, a pair of USB 2.0 ports and microUSB for charging.
