Not everyone who uses navigation apps have cars or take cabs or car services. In fact, a lot of people who use it take public transportation. One of the best apps out there, HERE, has taken note of that and they have continued improving the transit routes in whatever country they’re in. Currently they have information for over 950 urban areas around the world and they’ve recently added and improved on more areas.

Their latest update for North American areas, which are some of the trickiest due to the diversity in terms of forms of transit and owners of various transit companies, includes transit directions for Fredericton in New Brunswick and 19 more cities in the US, including Orlando, Detroit, and Raleigh. The suburbs around New York have also now been included and the city itself is still a work in progress as they have numerous transit routes.

Outside the US, they have added more places in India, expanded information in Brazil, and brought more places in Italy to the app. They also told the story of how a simple social media request has led them to adding transit routes for Tasmania. One user requested Metro Tasmania to send their info to HERE so that they can incorporate it, and HERE’s transit product manager David Volpe got on it, until now that they’ve finally launched.

In an effort to listen more to their users, they ask people who want to incorporate certain areas in their transit system to tweet them @HERE or to just leave comments in their website.
