Ah, to be back and talking about games. You don’t have to tell me you missed me, c’mon you guys. Truth is, I’ve missed writing this piece. So enough with the mushy stuff. We have games that we need to take a look at. Let’s get ready to celebrate half of the year gone with a bunch of great time-wasters.

VOEZ

I don’t think we’ve ever featured a rhythm game here before. But there’s always a first, and this one is called VOEZ by Rayark. The outfit is no stranger to rhythm games, in fact they are known for making tight and accurate games. And while it may seem that VOEZ is one of those rhythm games that lack complexity enough to interest you, please understand that these are not just simple visuals you have to tap with the music. Transformers: Earth Wars

You haven’t really seen your favorite Hasbro robots in a real-time strategy game before, so Transformers: Earth Wars is that game that bridges this genre and one of the most recognizable franchises in animation history. The gameplay adopts current RTS and resource management elements – there’s base complete with weapons and resources, and you will spend most of your gaming hours attacking the bases of others people, because that’s how life is in an RTS game. Swordbreaker

If you haven’t had enough of adventure games and sword-wielding heroes, then have another one. Swordbreaker has a simple enough storyline. Our hero is a knight who goes on to explore a dark castle because, well, he wants to. It was a rainy night but our hero still went on inside, with only a sword as his weapon. There are weapons and armor aplenty as you go stomping around the dark castle. If hack and slash is your thing, then go ahead and try out this game. It’s free to download, so no worries about spending for this game.

Skater

The title of the game hides nothing, this is a skating game for sure – made by skaters, for skaters. Skater focuses on three things – tricks, your board, and your shoes. Skate a lot of parks within the game. Controls are intuitive – your tricks, at least the ones you know, are done using different swipe gestures. On the ground, you will need to keep their momentum going and short downward swipes will allow you to maintain speed. In the air, or on a rail, it’s just about connecting the swipes and landing your tricks. And then you get to look good by getting original branded gear, of course. If you fancy a legit skateboarding game, this is the one for you. The quality of the game is worth the USD$4.99 you’ll spend for it.

Skylanders Battlecast

So some of the people that brought you Herthstone from Blizzard have teamed up with Activision and they’ve put out another collectible card battle game. Skylanders Battlecast is a free-to-play card game available for Android, and it mixes the business of selling real cards and playing them in game. Each Battlecast card features a character, gear, spells, Relics, and other items that can be used in the battleground. There are 300 different cards that can compete in about 60 missions across eight elemental islands. You can buy one pack of Battlecast Battle cards for USD$10. Each pack consists of 22 cards. The app is free to download from the Google Play Store.
