The magic date is September 29, which is just about 2 days from now (depending on where you are reading this from) – but that’s the date for the event where we assume Google will take the veils off possibly two new smartphones, one of them the LG-made Google Nexus 5X. We’re able to get some more details now as the new smartphone hits the FCC database.
It looks like the FCC has now made public the documents pertaining to the products coded as LG-H790 and LG-H791. This maybe evidence that Korean manufacturer LG has manufactured two variants of the Nexus 5X. Reading the cellular radio from each model, it would seem like H790 is the version for all carriers in the United States.
From the same documents, it can be seen that the H791 variant lacks support for CDMA carriers, so most pundits believe that this may be the international GSM version of the LG Nexus 5X. That said, the versions have both received their wireless approvals from the FCC.
Searching the databases for the Huawei Nexus 6P – which is, of course, the other expected Google Nexus phone to be launched two days from now – has yielded zero results. But we assume it won’t be long until that handset gets its certification as well.
