There will soon be changes in Google Translate. The service that’s been helping millions of people communicate and understand spoken or written material in different languages was one of the subjects at the Google for India event. Caesar Sengupta, VP for Product Management, showed off the latest feature that will hopefully make messaging easier and faster even in different languages.

Most users all over the world usually copy messages and paste them on the Google Translate site or app. It’s no different in India where people translate Hindi to English or vice versa regularly. The Tap to Translate feature on the Android app particularly is said to be in the works.

Coming soon is the ability to copy any text or message and then see automatic translations in a floating window. That makes it easier to translate some messages because some steps are eliminated. No need to paste on the main app because the translation can be read easily. No need to go out of a particular app because you can type a reply right then and there –already translated.

This ‘Tap to Translate’ feature is expected to roll out next year. Hopefully, it will be available in the first quarter so translating messages set in other languages will be faster, easier, and more convenient on your mobile device.
