We’ve been saying that Google might release two new Nexus phones simultaneously but we’re silent about the next Nexus tablet. Truth is, we haven’t heard any information yet and looks like we know the reason why: there will be no Nexus tablet this year. After Huawei was tipped to be manufacturing the next Nexus phone, LG was soon rumored to be making another Nexus phone. We’re expecting two units this year and we’d probably hear about them at the upcoming Google I/O conference.
Rumor has it that there will be no new tablet to be introduced under the Nexus program this year. We’re not sure if Google is totally abandoning the idea but the company could be trying out a new strategy. Since big brands like Apple and Samsung have released two flagship phones at the same time, Google could be doing the same thing. No Nexus tablet this year doesn’t mean the tech giant is forgetting about tablets. The company could only be taking a break and probably thought there is no need to launch one each year since regular Android updates are being released.
As for the rumored Nexus pair, we’re expecting one model from Huawei and another one from LG. Huawei’s model is believed to be the ‘Bullhead’ which is said to feature a larger 5.7-inch screen, 3500mAh battery, Snapdragon 810 processor. LG’s is rumored to be called the ‘Angler’ and might come with a 5.2-inch screen, 2700mAh battery, and a Snapdragon 808 chipset. Others believe the LG model will be the 2015 Nexus 5 and the Huawei Bullhead as the 2016 Nexus 6.
An October release is expected for the two Nexus phones. Don’t ask about a new Nexus 9 because I don’t think there will be one. Then again, Google could surprise us all and is just keeping a secret. We’ll see.
