The mobile industry is still not sure if there will still be the Google Nexus line. We’ve been expecting the HTC Sailfish and Marlin as the next-gen Nexus phone but apparently, there are talks now that Google is doing away with the Nexus series. We’ve been saying that it’s not just a rebrand because the tech giant is about to do some major changes.
LlabTooFeR just shared that the Sailfish and Marlin aka Google Pixel and Pixel XL will be equipped with Sony IMX378 12MP main camera and an 8MP front-facing cam with IMX179 sensor. The tweet somehow confirms a few things: the units will be manufactured by Nexus, there’s indeed a Sailfish phone, and the new phones will be known as the Pixel and Pixel XL. There’s also the information about the camera system and sensors used.
Meanwhile, the more high-end Google Pixel XL has been sighted on Geekbench. Also known as the HTC Marlin, this device is listed with 4GB RAM and Snapdragon 820 so we believe it’s the more high-end variant. There’s also the Android NMR1 reference as the operating system which is believed to be the Nougat. Model name is Google Marlin.
We’re hearing more rumors about the next Google smartphones. We’re getting more curious everyday we hope October is already here.

My budget is limited , Im more interested in Sailfish
Typo alert, think you meant manufactured by HTC not Nexus 🙂
Why can’t it just be different screen sizes? Why do I have to sacrifice performance because I don’t want a giant phone? The original Nexus 5 was the sweet spot for me.
