You would think that being the search engine powerhouse that Google is, they would be the best source of curated news that you may need to kick off your day. However, we’ve resorted to using other apps that offered us something better in terms of both UI and content. Now Google is hoping an overhauled Google News will be the thing that you want and need, as it brings “the best of artificial intelligence to find the best of human intelligence”, bringing you the most relevant news from the best journalists and news organizations from around the world.

The reimagined Google News now has a “For You” section so you can start off your day with a briefing of five news stories. These are a mix of both the most important news of the day as well as things that you indicated you’re interested in. Just like with a lot of AI-driven programs, the more you use it, the more it will understand what you really need, at least from a news perspective. It also has easy controls so you can tell it whether you want to see more or less of a topic or from a publisher.

If you’re more of a visual person, they’re also trying out this new thing called Newscasts which will bring together articles, videos, images, and quotes on a single topic. It will make it easier for you to get into a topic that you may want to brush up on. But if you want to go deeper, you can always use the “Full Coverage” feature that shows you a variety of sources and publishers that have been reporting on a said topic. Basically, it’s ” an unpersonalized view of events from a range of trusted news sources.”

You can also go to the Headlines section to see what the rest of the world is reading and also see different sections like technology, business, sports, entertainment, etc. If you want to read more from magazines and specific publishers, you can head to the Newsstand tab where you can also subscribe to them using the Subscribe with Google platform.
