We saw the Gionee M5 back in June together with the E8 but we haven’t heard any new product since then. That changes now as the company just announced the Huawei M5 Plus and M5 Enjoy in China. The two new Android smartphones each feature a fingerprint sensor and a huge 5,000mAh battery. These are two variants of the M5 line that now boasts more premium specs.
The M5 Plus comes equipped with a 6.0-inch AMOLED 2.5D glass screen, Full HD resolution, 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 process, Mali-T720 GPU, 64GB on-board storage, 3GB RAM, microSD card slot for expansion, 13MP camera (with Phase Detection Auto Focus and LED flash), and a 5MP selfie camera. The home button also houses the fingerprint sensor. It’s not just the battery is high-capacity but it can also be quickly charged. This one comes with a USB Type-C port and weighs 208 grams.
Meanwhile, the G5 Enjoy comes equipped with a smaller 5.5-inch display with 720p resolution, 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB storage space, 5MP front-facing camera, 8MP main cam, and a fingerprint scanner that is becoming more of a standard feature now in Android phones. Basically, the two phones only differ in screen size, built-in storage capacity, and the rear camera. Most specs are similar including the dual SIM connectivity and support.
Both phones will be available online in China starting December 25. It’s not too late to do your holiday shopping especially if you’ve been thinking of getting a new smartphone. Another great thing about these devices are the prices. The Gionee M5 Enjoy is only $308 (1999 Yuan) while the Gionee M5 Plus is $385 (2499 Yuan)–making these two still part of the mid-range Android phone category.
