Do you miss the days when the messaging features of Facebook were embedded into the main Facebook app? I have no problems whatsoever with the Messenger app, but there are conveniences to be had with having the messaging feature of Facebook right within the app. And if only for accessibility, we have to give it up for the developer who came up with this hack – returning the messaging features of Facebook within the main app itself.

As it turns out, the code for Facebook’s messaging features are still found within the main app. XDA member “lorantm” just found a way to activate the code again, and the result was a relative success – you can now enjoy messaging with only the main Facebook app installed, and the messaging features are complete with rich text and all the features you enjoy on Messenger.

Installing can be a bit complicated, but really straightforward if you know what you’re doing. You will need the latest Java runtime installed on your PC to do this. Then you download the latest Facebook APK installer from apkmirror. After that, it’s just a matter of patching the installer and the result is a patched APK file you can use to install Facebook on your device.

A couple of caveats, there are some small issues, but nothing you can’t live with. Also, you need to uninstall Facebook from your device before you install the patched APK. Look at the official XDA thread below for more information and the complete instructions for installation.
