We talked about the Gello browser app almost a year ago already, and it’s only now that we will finally be seeing it in action. It has been announced that Gello will be shipping with a select range of CM13 builds, and even then it will be an “opt-in” deal because the app is based on the open source Chromium code.
The Gello browser will be one of the thousands of browser app choices you can have for your Android device, and it will do everything you expect of a browser, plus a few surprise features. It will have edge navigation – where you can swipe from the left or right edge of your device to navigate through the browser history. It will also feature a night mode with inverted colors for easier reading, a “LookLock” feature which will prevent all other apps to look at webview content, and a lot more.
Gello will even have a Powersave mode for more battery-efficient browsing. Another feature you may like is the “Advanced WebPage sharing” feature, which will allow you to share a page screenshot and the link to social media, instead of sharing only the link. You can also save webpages for offline reading.
It looks to be a full-featured browser app, but we will have to see how it works when it launches with CyanogenMod’s CM13 soon. If any of you have tried it, let us know in the comments section.
