Just last week, we told you about the FORM watchface created for Google’s first design conference. It worked beautifully with four other apps, namely Muzei HD Landscapes, Muzei Live Wallpaper, Muzei watch app, and the FORM smartphone app. But some people thought that wasn’t enough and they wanted a widget counterpart for the watchface. Well a Reddit user/developer finally ported it and came up with the FORM Clock Widget.
This widget uses the typeface design that was used on the FORM watchface, which was in fact based on the font and logo of the FORM design conference hosted by Google. Using the companion settings app, choose which colors you want your widget to be. Or if you’re pretty happy with the theme or look of your current wallpaper, then set the widget in a way that it will just base itself on the color of your wallpaper.
If your device is on Android KitKat and above, you can actually choose to animate the widget every time the time would change. But the developer actually advices against choosing that option as “widgets are not meant to animate” and it will of course cause it will cause performance issues and battery drainage. He included the animation because “it looked pretty” but tells users to use it with caution until he’s able to find a way to reduce performance costs.
The source code for the widget will be available soon so other developers can tweak and play around with it. You can download the FORM Clock Widget from the Google Play Store for free.
