After sightings at TENAA and a benchmark leak of the specs, we’re finally getting an up close look at Samsung’s new mid-ranger (among a lot of other midrange phones), the Samsung Galaxy J5. Samsung has made it a point to consolidate their new offerings under such letters, and we can now probably judge where Samsung is going with its “J Series”, looking at the Galaxy J1 and now the Galaxy J5.

Just a quick reminder of what this new phone is all about, we’re seeing a standard 5-inch display (we don’t know yet what type of display it will use, whether AMOLED or LCD) that is said to be rated at HD 720p. This will be powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, supported by 1.5GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD). Pretty standard specs for a mid-range phone.

As far as the aesthetics go, you can immediately connect the Galaxy J5’s look to the Galaxy J1. The J5 looks like it has a full plastic body with a removable back cover – that means that the 2,600mAh battery is removable. These new pictures show that the phone is running the new TouchWiz based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Lastly, Samsung did not skimp on the camera for this model, giving it the same 13MP/5MP camera combo as with the J1. No info yet on pricing, but we assume that information will be available pretty soon.
