Amazon’s entries into the streaming market, the Fire TV and the Fire TV Stick are getting significant changes with their latest updates, but don’t worry, it’s all for the better. It might even convince those who have been skeptical, to actually get one (or even both!) of these devices, The update comes with Bluetooth headset pairing, easier connectivity to hotel WiFi when traveling, and expanded storage so you can view more movies, shows, and play more games on your devices.

With the new update, you can now hook up flash drives or even hard disks to your Fire TV. That means if you’ve been scared of installing new games or apps because of the limited space on the device, now you can maximize it because you can store videos on an external hard drive. This new feature is only for the Fire TV and not the Fire TV Stick, due of course to hardware limitations. Another new feature that is only for the Fire TV is having the Bluetooth headset mode, which lets you listen to music or watch videos so you won’t disturb others who don’t want to watch your show or groove to your beats.

All other features we’ll be enumerating now are both for Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. If you’re traveling and staying in a hotel, you can now tether on to their WiFi even if it requires authentication. They say this is available at “most major hotels, as well as some universities.” If you use a PIN to secure your devices, you don’t need to worry about people around you seeing you enter the numbers as it now has a hidden PIN entry feature. Another new feature is just long pressing the home button to put your devices to sleep mode.

As we said earlier, the Fire TV Stick will not have the expanded storage and Bluetooth headset mode features, but all other updates include both of them. The update is expected to roll out to devices starting today.
