You probably have around 10 group messages going on at any given time, given that you have an active online social life. But there comes a point when you need more than just to type out conversations or even emoticons. Sometimes, you need to talk to not just one person but probably all of the people in a certain messaging group you belong to. And so Facebook has listened to you and is now bringing a Group Calling feature to the Messenger app.

So anytime you feel like doing a group calling conference on any of your messaging groups, just click on the phone icon and then choose which ones in the group you want to be part of the call. They will all then receive a call at the same time, therefore starting your group voice conversation. If one member misses a call but the call is still ongoing, they can join in at anytime by tapping on the phone icon in the group chat. You can always check which of the members are already part of the call and then ping those who haven’t responded yet.

Actually, Facebook Messenger has been on a seeming mission to become your primarily calling source, with its VoIP protocols. It brought voice calling way back, and then allowed even those without Facebook accounts to open up their own Messenger accounts. You can also start messaging people you aren’t friends with, and also block this you don’t want to message you. We have a feeling that group video calling isn’t far from the immediate future.

This new feature is part of the new Messenger update which is currently rolling out across all territories. You should probably receive the update within the next 24 hours, so just hold on and then enjoy talking with your group chat mates after you’ve updated.
