One of the things we automatically think about when Australia is mentioned is the Sydney Opera House, which is not just a famous tourist spot, but also a historical and architectural wonder. The Australian landmark will now have a digital home through two of Google’s most popular travel alternative sites, the Google Cultural Institute and Google Street View. You will now be able to explore the outside and inside of the Sydney Opera House even if you’re a few continents away.

In just one online platform, you will now be able to see the 60 years of the Sydney Opera House as well as more than 1,000 artifacts inside of it. There are 50 online exhibits about the Australian icon, which includes the early designs for it by architect Jørn Utzon, exploring how the world’s biggest mechanical organ works, plus late night shows right at the Opera House. Other exhibits explore the history and development of the architectural structure, and a 360° experience so you can explore it as if you were actually there.

Speaking of almost being there, you can also explore the Sydney Opera House through the Google Street View app. Even if you’ve never stepped onto Australian soil, you can now virtually stand on the steps of one of the most photographed places in the country, or look out to another famous Australian landmark, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, or stand inside the world-famous concert hall and its acoustic clouds. You will also be able to go behind-the-scenes at the Joan Sutherland Theater.
