We’ve been too focused on when the biggest brands in tech are getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS that we forgot if and when the smaller OEMs are getting the latest version. Not that we don’t care. We just don’t know if they are even thinking about updating. We’ve only featured a few Elephone devices–the P7, Vowney, and that ELE Watch–so we’re a surprised to know there are more.

In the case of Elephone, this Chinese phone company is determined to keep its handsets relevant in the industry today by giving it some Android Marshmallow goodness. The earliest Elephone Marshmallow units we’ll see will arrive on January 2016. The Elephone P9000, P9000 LITE, and the P9000C will get Android 6.0 first and already pre-installed.

Other Elephone models like the Elephone M3, Elephone Ivory, Elephone P8000, and Elephone P6000 Pro will get Android 6.0 but no information on release date yet. Meawhile, the Elephone Trunk will get a customized CM13 this December. This is good news for Elephone users who are always wondering if they will get a taste of the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

With Android Marshmallow, the Elephone device will soon finally enjoy some of the platforms basic features: Now on Tap, Doze Mode, App mode, battery saving mode, enhanced app permission management, and more. For more information about the Elephone handsets, head on to the company’s official website.
