The latest Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X remain to be controversial but we don’t doubt that they are still flying off the shelves. For real Nexus fans and believers of Google, the bad reviews are just isolated cases. If there are problems and issues, there are always fixes and solutions to download or apply. More often than not, a simple software update brings improvements on a feature or process.
If not software and firmware updates, new Android phones are expected to receive support from other related platforms. Some modders anticipate CyanogenMod. The latest we know is CyanogenMod 13 (CM 13) based on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow as a follow up to the CM 12.1 nightlies. Only a few mobile devices are supported. A short list of phones were published recently while others are only getting CM 12.1. Some notable features of the CyanogenMod 13 for Nexus 6P and 5X include WiFi calling.
The CyanogenMod group seem to be very these days that after updating the system to run Cyanogen apps, CM support is now available for the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. Nightly builds for the two Google Nexus phones are now ready for download from CyanogenMod’s website. These versions are expected to be not reliable and stable yet so it’s up to you if you want to try the first versions this early. So as we’d always say: download at your own risk. But of course, people who usually run such mods are those that really know what they are doing so a few kinks and issues that arise here are there may be nothing.
Other Android phones getting CyanogenMod 13 support aside from the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X include the following: Moto X 2014, LG G3 Verizon, LG GPad 7.0, LG G4, Google Nexus 7, OnePlus One, and Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4.
