Even before Samsung officially launched the Galaxy S6, we knew that it would have a removable battery. It features an integrated battery but it can be replaced although we noted from an earlier iFixit teardown that battery replacement sucked. Just yesterday, we even said that it is more expensive to build than the iPhone 6–with some details on the prices of several parts.
Similarly, a Galaxy S6 edge teardown showed us a difficult repair process. But hey, Samsung boasts the S6 edge is one of its best phones, crafted more intricately and carefully. No doubt about that because it has passed several stress tests already.
And since we’ve looked at the cost of the Galaxy S6 edge, we’re also interested to know how much a replacement battery for the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be. According to the South Korean tech giant, battery will cost $45 with a 1-year warranty and battery replacement can be done within one business day only. Battery’s capacity when reduced to 80 percent within the first year, Samsung will offer a free replacement.
Last year’s flagship phone, the Galaxy S5, can receive a new battery for only $29.99. Price is cheaper but remember the S6 edge is also more powerful and more expensive. Removing the battery from the new Galaxy premium phones is possible but it’s more of a hassle for the S6 edge. Battery replacements of the two phones are different. You can change the battery on your own if you know how to but it’s recommended that you go to a professional.
