With most smartphone owners now being heavy users and a lot of them being mostly on the go, chances are, battery life is a real problem for them. There are numerous apps, power banks, battery extenders, etc, that have been given as a solution to prolong your phone’s battery. Now, if you’re an HTC user, you get an accessory that will give your compatible phone the ability to charge itself faster than the normal chargers can do. The OEM has announced on their official site the upcoming Rapid Charger 2.0.

The website lists the 15 watt travel charger as having the ability to charge specific HTC devices 40% faster than the regular charger does. This is due to the Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology, which works with devices that have Snapdragon 800 SoC, hence the fact that the rapid charger from HTC is still limited to a few smartphones.

Currently, it will only work with the new flagship HTC One (M8) as well as its Harman Kardon Edition, the HTC One (E8), HTC One Remix, and the HTC Desire Eye. You can still also use it with the previous flagship, the HTC One (M7) but it won’t work that fast, since it just uses backwards support for the previous version of this technology, the Quick Charge 1.0.

But before you run out to the stores or on HTC online’s store to buy this Rapid Charger, it still has not listed how much it will cost consumers and when it will be available. But for sure, it exists and it will be coming soon. For now, you have to be satisfied with “normal” chargers and get one of those power banks to help you out.
