A Caterpillar is tough. No, I’m not talking about the larva that turns into a beautiful butterfly but the CAT phone that is rugged by construction standards. CAT has recently brought a smartphone to the US in the form of the CAT B15Q.
The CAT B15Q is an Android-powered phone that is very rugged and tough to use. You don’t have to worry about dropping it because it can take drops, extreme temperature, dust, and water. A few months back, we mentioned the CAT B15Q phone has IP67 and MIL SPEC 810G ratings which means it can survive being one meter underwater for 30 minutes, a 1.8 meter drop, and temperatures between -25° C to 55° C.
The touchscreen display of the CAT B15Q can still recognize touch even when wet. This means you can wash the dishes, fix the sink, or take a bath while using the smartphone and it won’t be destroyed. It is that tough but of course, you still need to follow cautionary measures. Don’t be too careless with it just because it is known to be a tough phone.
Guys may find this particularly a kick ass model but any woman can have a CAT. That is, if she digs the manly design. This durable smartphone comes equipped with a 4-inch scratch-resistant display, Gorilla Glass screen, a quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, a 5 megapixel camera, LED flash, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, and 3G. Sadly, it doesn’t offer 4G/LTE connectivity. Phone runs Android KitKat out of the box.
CAT phones are previously exclusive in Europe but T-Mobile and AT&T are making the CAT B15Q available now in the United States with no contract. It’s currently priced at $349 but a dual-SIM version will be $359.
The other CAT S50 phone we featured last month will be ready by November complete with a bigger 4.7-inch display, 8 megapixel camera, and 4G LTE connectivity. No word on pricing yet.
