Canadian Android users are getting a surprise this week, as various smartphone owners are reporting that Google and/or some of the carriers have quietly switched on paid-apps in the Android Market.  According to BGR, both Fido and Rogers subscribers have spotted paid-apps in amongst the freebies.

However, some digging indicates that Bell and TELUS customers haven’t been so lucky, with most saying they’re still not seeing any new additions. ¬†Those with increased access to the Market’s wares are split between people with carrier-supplied handsets and those using unlocked, SIM-free devices.
