For those that love the thought of a 5.3″ Android smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy Note but don’t want to wait for it to hit AT&T or pay the outrageous price the international version is selling for, BLU Studio has you covered. Available now is their Note-challenging 5.3″ Android 2.3 Gingerbread powered smartphone with a huge 2,500 mAh battery. The rest of the specs might not match the Note — but the price doesn’t either.

Wo don’t know a whole lot about this phone or BLU but they’ve released a few phones in the past. The BLU 5.3″ is nothing compared to the Galaxy Note other than it has the same size screen and battery. The BLUE comes with a single-core 800 MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, Micro-SD slot and a 5 megapixel camera on the rear. They do offer that huge 2,500 mAh battery and a VGA front camera too, but that is where the good news ends. The 5.3″ capacitive touch display is only 800 x 480 so resolution isn’t a strong point here either.

This smartphone is available today from the popular online retailer Expansys-USA and will run you only $259 with free shipping. Its a GSM unlocked smartphone with support for dual-sim cards. This smartphone tablet hybrid runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread but that is all we know. The press images seem to show some HTC Sense UI style icons but that is about it. Head down to the source link if this interests you but proceed with caution as we don’t know much about this India-made smartphone.

  1. Excuse me, did any one noticed that the phone have a slot for 2 sim cards, that mean you can have a plan with AT&T and TMobile at the same time, amazing!!, dual standby, and at this price is too much to ask for anything else, and if you still want better resolution, processor, and memory, you can go for the Galaxy note, I just bought it for my girlfriend birthday, chep and make a lot of impression on her.

  2. I do not know, it is almost too good to be true.  Resolution is not the best, but my netbook had 1000 lines, so this one with 800 seems OK. Robert Lichota

  3. I bought the BLU Studio 5.3 from Expansys.com, it has dual sim slots, and as posted on Expansys, it arrived with only a 650MHz processor, in my haste I failed to see that 650MHz posted in the spec’s on Expansys website,so I was not happy to see 800MHz on sales for same price on other sites.  I used it for 4 days, it had issues running apps in background but it did run the ‘Dead Space’ game & other apps with no lag, plays tv.com, & YouTube video perfectly through the wifi, but knowing that I can have an 800MHz processor, on the identical model for the same price really bothered me, so I ordered the 800MHz BLU Studio 5.3 version from Negri Electronics after contacting their customer service to confirm that their BLU Studio 5.3 actually has the 800MHz for the same price of $269.0.  My neighbor’s T-Mobile cell phone died so I lent him the 650MHz BLU Studio 5.3, he has been estatic and is happy to have the 650MHz BLU, all we had to do was take out my SimpleMobile sim & put in his T-Mobile sim, he wants to buy the phone now, so thats a relief.  Both of these BLU Studios have the identical model number, all specs are identical except for the processors.  I like Expansys & have another BLU phone on pre-order, the BLU Deco World phone, but I am a little stung, in future I will check & re-check specs, from more than one retailer, its disappointing to pay the same price for a 650MHz & an 800MHz phone, I will get the 800MHz version by Tuesday Feb.7…cant wait.

    • I have news for you, BLU is about to release the Studio Plus, with 1GHz processor and android v4.0, in black and in white, with no price increase, and I heard that the Studio Terminator is on the pipe line

      • Is there any proof that they are releasing this phone?  didnt they just release the 800mhz in feb.  If so there is a planned release date?

  4. Correction, I paid $259.00 on Expansys.com for the BLU Studio 5.3 & the same price on Negrielectronics for the 800MHz BLU Studio 5.3, (on Negri you may still get free shipping if you enter nefreeship in coupon code.

  5. OK guys, I just got my BLU Studio from Negri Electronics, it is NOT the 800MHz processor!!  It is only the 650MHz processor, I called them and they said the advertisement on the site is an error, I am just so disappointed, but I need a backup phone so I will keep it.  God, has ANYONE found the 800MHz available anywhere?

  6. Just bought my phone yesterday. Got errors today. The force close errors. 🙁
I cant connect to the internet but I can chat…(hmm)… but it worked after a while.
While I was calling, the system gave me an error (then a blank screen on PHONE screen after), took a picture of my kid since i can still use other apps…but on the 3rd shot, the phone just died. Total black screen. It took about 10 minutes for the system to get back on track. As if nothing happened.
Much as I’d like to keep this, I have to return it. 🙁 SAD.
