We’ve taken a look at the BLOCKS modular smartwatch before, and its accompanying crowdfunding campaign via Kickstarter. The idea caused a bit of a stir when it was announced in October 2015, and now, almost a year after, we’re looking at upcoming global launch events that would finally announce its arrival to the world. But first up, a video to show off the Android software within, plus the launching of the developer preview to make sure there are apps available when BLOCKS launches.
The video shows off BLOCKS modular smartwatch running Android, although we’re not quite sure if it is indeed Android Marshmallow under the hood. But there’s a good bit of games in there, plus some nice features. We saw Bluetooth pairing and the swapping of digital watch faces. We also saw GPS usage and swapping of modules to add to battery charge, which is cool. Check out the video below.
BLOCKS has also put up a sign-up link (see source link below) for app developers who want to develop their own Android apps to work with the smartwatch. The BLOCKS team is building a set of APIs to let developers take advantage of all the functionality the modular smartwatch will have.
So, if you fancy creating an app for the BLOCKS smartwatch, hit the link in the source site below. Also, remember that BLOCKS is now available for pre-order and will be shipping in October this year.
