BlackBerry is still in the mobile business and the enterprise industry. Just because we don’t use BlackBerry and are hardcore Android fans, it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t care about the Canadian smartphone pioneer. We’re interested to know what happens to this company that’s been facing a number of problems lately. We’ve been saying that going Android might help boost sales. This is aside from the fact what some Android apps can run on BlackBerry OS.
Looks like it’s already embracing the idea with the BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition powered by Android Lollipop. Some images have been leaked. They’re actually screenshots from a video of a mysterious smartphone running Android, complete with Google Play Store and some apps.
Watch the video by tech vlogger Dudu Rocha below if you understand Portuguese:
It could be the Passport 2 or another name could be given but the Silver Edition Passport reference is actually enough. It sounds more serious and professional. If it runs BlackBerry and Android, now that would be a more powerful phone.
Evleaks has also posted some related images that seem to be rendered only but we all know Evan Blass. Most of his leaks turn out to be true even if we have no idea who the sources were. We don’t think this is the BlackBerry Venice but at least we know that one has been confirmed to arrive on four US carriers this coming November. We’re really hoping this one on the video is a legit Android-running BlackBerry Passport 2. What do you think?

I hope they do make an Android version of the S.E.Passport and are not only using it for testing purposes.
I just bought a BB10 S.E.Passport and it runs all the Android apps I need via Snap. The good thing about the Android version is that new Android games using the KB (that doubles as a touch pad) will be developed. The Passport could turn into a modern gaming pad. I’m not missing out on anything because those new Android games will also work on my BB10 Passport.
