BlackBerry is set to roll out two new smartphones according to John Chen who hinted that the first mid-range smartpone might be unveiled this coming July while the other model will be out before end of the year. Even before this information, we’ve already been hearing about the Hamburg and Rome. This time, we’ve got another detail that can be added to our list of proofs. A certain Hamburg device was sighted on a Wi-Fi Alliance listing.
BlackBerry has been busy the past months working on the new mid-range phones. That’s already a known fact but we have no idea when the Canadian company will officially unveil the mobile devices. BlackBerry’s numbers aren’t exactly stellar but the company isn’t giving up. This Wi-Fi certification is another proof that a new handset is currently in the works. It also proves the previous rumor that the phone will be built by TCL.
The document lists TCL as the company so we’re assuming this could be the phone rumored a few weeks ago. It could be a BlackBerry phone or just another Alcatel branded smartphone. Details show handset known as DTEK 50 listed with model no. STH100-2 (RJD211LW). Phone is powered by Android Marshmallow (AAF295).
This could be the Hamburg by BlackBerry or this could just be another phone manufactured by TCL. We’re not sure if it’s a good move by BlackBerry (if it’s true) but it’s the only way they can produce an affordable smartphone. A BlackBerry-TCL-Alcatel collaboration isn’t exactly impossible but at this time, the smartphone pioneer definitely needs to be careful with its decision in the mobile industry. We’re excited to know what this TCL-branded handset would be.
Could this be the BlackBerry Hamburg? What do you think?
