The third Android-powered BlackBerry phone is about to be unveiled but before the official launch happens, so many leaked images and information are coming our way. That is expected especially within the Android community that we can now consider it as normal. It is no longer surprising if rumors spread or image renders are published just like this new set featuring that BlackBerry DTEK60. The smartphone follows the BlackBerry PRIV and the DTEK50 but more of the latter as the new one is also a mid-range phone.

The Canadian smartphone pioneer is still preparing the unit but press photos have leaked together with some new details. The DTEK60 is very similar to the BlackBerry DTEK50 but smaller. It’s not really manufactured by BlackBerry but the company is said to have partnered with TCL. We’ve been saying the DTEK60 will simply be a repackaged Alcatel phone, specifically the Alcatel Idol 4S.

So far, we know the BlackBerry DTEK60 will have the following: slighty rounded display edges, 5.5-inch QHD display screen, Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage, fingerprint sensor, USB-C, and a 3000mAh battery. Others are saying this is more premium based of the list of specs but BlackBerry is set to sell it for a lower price.

Rumor has it that smartphone will be announced on October 11 with a $ 699(CAD) price tag. That’s about $528 in the United States so it’s still within the premium range.

If it’s indeed the Alcatel Idol 4S then there’s a possibility it will have the same JBL speakers and Waves Audio technology. There’s also the VR mode that allows VR google support. We’re not really demanding BlackBerry to join the virtual reality bandwagon but if it’s an Alcatel phone, then it might have almost the same features.
