With the sheer number of apps that we have installed on our smartphones and tablets, we don’t get to open them everyday (unless you do need them for work or school). But what if you really wanted to be updated about something that interests you but you don’t have time to open up the app everyday? If your interest is sports, then you’d probably be happy that the BBC Sports app’s newest update is giving you a widget to make things easier for you.

Their Top Stories widget can be installed on your Android home screen, and in one glance and a few swipes, you’ll be able to see the most popular and relevant headlines to sports that interest you. You just keep on swiping through the headlines, until you see the ones that you want to read, and then click on it, and it will bring you to the main sports app. This ensures that the sports you care about will not be buried under all the other sports news that may have happened, especially while you were sleeping.

When you first launch the BBC Sports App widget, you’ll be able to customize it by choosing 7 sports plus the top headlines of course. So no more wading through baseball or American football news when all you wanted to know was what are the latest transfer news on your favorite football (the “real” football) club.

This widget is available on the latest BBC Sports app update, along with a few other updates. This includes push alerts for country cricket teams, a fix to the Chromecast support feature, and the usual bug fixes and improvements.
