We’ve seen Android 4.4.2 arriving for Moto X users across many of the US carriers. US Cellular, T-Mobile, and even Verizon Wireless have updated the Moto X, however there is still one carrier that has yet to do any updating. That missing carrier is AT&T, and while we have yet to see an official announcement, there is now word of a soak test.
We should make this clear — the soak test invite doesn’t specifically mention Android 4.4.2. Nor do we expect those participating to spill all the details as they are reminded about how “this is a confidential test under the terms of the Motorola Feedback Network” and about how they are not allowed to “post any details on information about this on any public sites.”
Still, given the timing we would be more surprised if this update wasn’t Android 4.4.2. Having said that, it is important to remember the lengths of these soak tests can vary. Some have wrapped up in a matter of days, and some stretch longer. It all really depends on whether those taking part in the testing are finding any issues.
Anyway, those carrying an AT&T branded Moto X may want to start keeping an eye out for an update notification. We wouldn’t necessarily suggest heading into the settings and checking manually just yet, though, we suspect more than a few of you are already doing just that. Once the update arrives, feel free to let us know it is available, and also whether you are seeing any side effects as a result.
