It may not be the most technically advanced tablet in the market now, but the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (T817A) from AT&T is finally getting the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update its owners have been waiting for. The Verizon version has already had its update more than a month ago, so it’s just right that AT&T catches up with this new update. So while the OTA update is rolling out now, you better make space on your tablet and make sure that your connect to a stable WiFi.

The update weighs in at around 1074MB so that is why you’d have to prepare your tablet for the update. Aside from the things we’ve come to expect from a Marshmallow update, including Google Now on Tap, the Doze mode, and redesigned app permissions, the update also brings a new feature called NumberSync. Your tablet will be able to receive voice and video calls using your existing AT&T mobile number, even if your smartphone isn’t with you.

This feature which is probably exclusive to AT&T users only allows you the freedom to just bring your tablet in case you’re expecting an important phone call. Just make sure you have earphones with you or else you’ll kinda look silly holding a 9-inch device to your ear.

While the update shouldn’t affect your settings or data, it would still be a good idea to back everything up before you update. When you’re ready, go to About device > Software update > Check for updates. And if it’s already there, then you’re good to go and start updating.
