We have a feeling that OEMs will rush to release Android Marshmallow updates for their phones and tablets because Google has already announced the Nougat. Honestly, we don’t hear much from ASUS about such firmware upgrades. Maybe the Taiwanese company is content in making the announcements within its mobile community but now we want to share to the whole world that the ZenFone Selfie and ZenFone Zoom are now eligible for the Android 6.0 version.
The ASUS ZenFone Selfie can now be updated to Android Marshmallow. It brings a number of new features and apps like Motion Gesture, Camera Pano Sphere Mode, Google Calendar, and Google Messenger. ASUS says that APP2SD will no longer be supported in this version so mobile users are encouraged to transfer the apps to the internal storage before applying the update. Interestingly though, some pre-loaded apps will be removed from the system after the SOFTware update. If you enjoy any of these apps, just download them again after the upgrade: ASUS Backup, Mirror, Party Link, Remote Link, PC Link, What’s Next, Photo Frame, ASUS MyFrame, ASUS MyWater, Omlet, Data Transfer, Snap View, EZ 訂 (TW SKU), Dr. Eye (TW SKU), and Yahoo 購物中心 (TW SKU).
Some other native features like the Asus Messaging, Calendar, and Email will be gone after the Factory reset so better use alternatives instead. There’s Google Messenger, Google Calendar, and Gmail for your important tasks.
As for the ZenFone Zoom, some apps will also be removed after the update. Sad to say the ASUS Backup, Google Play Books, Google Play Games, Google Play Newsstand, Google+, and ZenFlash apps will not be pre-loaded anymore but you can always download them straight from the Google Play Store. Apps and features that will be automatically added include Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Facebook, Google Messenger, and Google Calendar. According to ASUS, SnapView and Multi-user will not be supported on Marshmallow.
