ASUS now tries to expand its reach into the mid-tier market with a new phone launched at a Chinese tech exhibition which happened the past weekend dubbed the ASUS Pegasus 2 Plus, the successor to the ASUS Pegasus that was launched December 2014. The Pegasus 2 Plus follows in the path made by ASUS’s ZenFone products, but this time using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets.
Let’s look under the hood at what makes the ASUS Pegasus 2 Plus tick. Up front you find a handsome 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display that is powered by an agile yet relatively cheaper Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset. The processor is octa-core and 64-bit capable, and supported ably by a generous 3GB RAM.
On the camera side, you get a 13MP/8MP camera combo hopefully using the same sensors as with the ZenFone line. The phone will run the latest version of ZenUI, built on top of Android 5.1 Lollipop, and should support 4G LTE, judging by the chipset’s capabilities. All of this is kept powered by a 3,030mAh battery. From the specs alone, you can see that ASUS is still trying to shake the market up, offering 3GB RAM in a segment where that is rarely seen.
No pricing details available yet, but you will recall that the predecessor of this new phone was a relatively affordable LTE-capable device priced at USD$130. Let’s see if the ASUS Pegasus 2 Plus will stay within this price point.

I see no mention of storage capacity, so i suspect Asus has skimped on that to keep price down.
If not then how about getting us a tablet with similar specs Asus?
They already have for $300. 2k display, 4 gb ram, etc… It’s called the Zenpad S 8.0
That’s a Intel based device though, and i am suspecting Intel of taking a loss on their chips to get a foot in the door.
The Intel chip is blazing fast, inexpensive, and doesn’t overheat, but to each their own.
I wish there was an antutu score leaked somewhere for this phone 🙁
