The upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas will showcase the latest in devices that you may want to get for the first quarter of the year. Archos is introducing two new smart displays that is an improvement from their previous Hello devices since it now has Alexa integration. The Archos Mate comes in two variants, with 5-inch and a 7-inch full HD displays and the best news is that it’s more affordable than the Echo devices that you might have found a bit too expensive.

If you’re looking for quality smart displays that isn’t Amazon branded and is a bit more in your price range, then the Archos Mate devices may be the answer to your digital prayers. The Mate 5 has a 5-inch full HD screen powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and has dual 3W speakers. It looks like a cute alarm clock with a screen. Meanwhile, the Mate 7 obviously has a bigger 7-inch display and has a slightly faster 1.3GHz processor plus two 10W speakers.

Both models have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage plus a microSD slot so you can add up to 128GB of storage. They also have a 3000 mAh battery so you can use it even if you are unplugged. They also have a 5MP camera and a pair of microphones so this means you can use the devices for your audio and video calls through Alexa or Skype. But they also have a physical switch that can turn the microphones off.

Since it has Alexa built-in, you can use it to control your smart home devices like lights, security cameras, thermostats, etc. You can also use Amazon’s digital assistant to set up reminders, add events to your calendar, add items to your grocery list, etc. You can also use music streaming services including Amazon Music. For now, they don’t have support yet for Amazon Prime Video and Audible, but soon you’ll be able to watch videos and listen to audiobooks as well, respectively.
