Headphones can still be updated. You may think that a simple pair is enough for audio and music listening but there are people who don’t want to settle for anything less. Audiophiles want the best headphones as possible but because there are too many choices available in the market today, it may be quite a challenge to choose just one pair.

A new Kickstarter project, the AQUA Headphone Amplifier is said to be the lightest in the world today. Device is impressive because it’s battery-free. No need to worry about your headphones running out of battery because there is none. If you’re looking for a stereo set or a headset, this AQUA can provide studio-quality sound without being expensive. The headphones actually use HiFi amplifiers and sports a stylish metallic design. It doesn’t need power charging as well because again, there really is no battery inside.

NEXUM, the team behind the AQUA wants to bring the battery-free amplifier into production. The concept makes use of MicroUSB or iOS Lightning so you can directly attach any mobile phone. A pair also boasts of high audio quality 24bit/192kHz DAC sounds.

Fund goal is $16,000 but with 53 days more to go before the deadline, this Kickstarter project has already raised more than $50,000 from 713 backers. Feel free to pledge a minimum of $39 if want to see the AQUA become a reality. Of course, you can give more but the smallest contribution you can give will already give you one pair of AQUA for Micro-USB.

This is a crowdfunded project, and as such may not deliver what its creators initially promise. Most crowdfunding sites, like Kickstarter and Indiegogo, have policies about what happens to your money if the project fails to deliver on its goals, but choosing to back a project is inevitably a risk. Android Community’s reporting on crowdfunded projects should in no way be seen as an endorsement, unless specifically stated, and we recommend closely examining the terms and conditions to understand your individual rights as a backer before making a pledge.

  1. Yes. They shipped me the micro usb version. Its sound quality is not as good as they say: there’s a peak on mid-bass and a sort of artificial compression/spreading in the signal that makes every music detail confused.
