The first-gen Moto X finally got Android 5.1 Lollipop update last week. We weren’t thinking much about when the 2nd-gen Moto X model is getting the same software update because the first one took a while. But good thing Motorola was quick to roll out Android 5.1 Lollipop release notes for the Moto X, specifically the Pure edition.
Android 5.1 Lollipop for the Moto X Pure Edition brings better control over notifications and improvement on stability. As with other Lollipop updates, the Moto X 2nd-gen includes usability improvements like ‘No interruptions’ until next alarm or an earlier scheduled downtime. To dismiss a notification, just swipe it up. On the Quick Settings, you’ll also notice a new pull-down menu when you need to easily access Bluetooth or WiFi.
Moto Actions now allows you to turn phone’s flashlight on or off with two chopping motions. No need to unlock or wake up your phone. On the Lockscreen, you can use the Ambient Display. As expected, more bugs have been fixed like the absence of ringer audio while making a call, Chrome crashing on launch, WiFi not automatically reconnecting to home WiFi, Bluetooth discovery not triggered, incorrect default APN, and those synchronization and connection issues with MS Exchange servers.
Once you receive a notification message, just choose “Yes, I’m in” then “Install now”. Your Moto X will automatically restart. If you haven’t received any notification yet, you can still manually update by going to Settings> About phone> System updates and then click “Yes, I’m in” and “Install now”.
