Alcatel’s premier phablet, the OneTouch Hero, is also getting an IFA 2014 refresh with the OneTouch Hero 2. Building on its predecessor’s stylish roots, the Hero 2 has a very stylish feel to it, especially with a high-end spec list to boot.
The Hero 2 has a 6-inch full HD IPS display at 1080×1920 resolution. The screen is covered by Dragontrail scratch-resistant glass with OGS lamination for further protection. Pushing pixels to this display is a MediaTek MT6592 “true octa-core” 2.0Ghz processor – 8 cores turning at the same speed, and differentiated by those big.LITTLE SoC’s – with a Mali GPU, all backstopped by 2GB of DDR3 RAM. This will all run on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS. As we can see, this not really flagship level specs, but it is there or thereabouts.
The 6-inch phablet has LTE connectivity, 13MP main camera paired with a 5MP front-facing selfie shooter, and 16GB of internal storage. Much like Samsung’s galaxy Note series, the Hero 2 also sports a stylus for the more creative side of you. And with a full resolution display like that, you need to have the battery power to make sure the device is useful. Fortunately, Alcatel did not skimp on this spec, giving the device a monster 3,100mAh battery.
The device sounds premium and it certainly looks premium – so we can expect a pretty premium price range for this as well. No information on that as of the moment, but Alcatel says that the product should be out to market by end of September. Keep track of all the IFA 2014 goings-on via our tag, linked here.
